About Us

Wine and Spirits Distributors of Illinois (WSDI) was formed shortly after the repeal of Prohibition and was formerly known as the Illinois Wholesale Liquor Dealer’s Association. The name was changed in 1997 and countless other changes have transformed the industry over the decades, but the original and unaltered objectives of WSDI remain the same:

To promote the general welfare of the alcoholic beverage industry, and

To maintain and encourage a high standard of ethics and moral responsibility among all persons engaged in the industry.

WSDI manages compliance with the Illinois 30-Day Credit Law, provides members with representation before the Illinois General Assembly, state agencies, regulatory bodies, courts, the Illinois Liquor Control Commission, and the general public. Additionally, WSDI supports social responsibility efforts to eliminate underage and abusive consumption of alcoholic beverages in Illinois. WSDI’s Executive Director routinely represents the members at national and statewide conferences and conventions, speaking on panels and public forums in support of a strong three-tier system.

WSDI is an affiliate of the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America and represents its members in this nationwide organization.

Mission
WSDI is dedicated to:

  • Supporting and advancing its members’ collective interests on industry matters within the state.

  • Protecting and upholding the integrity of the three-tier distribution system within the State of Illinois and all laws governing the sale of alcoholic beverages to individuals of drinking age.

  • Maintaining the Illinois 30-Day Credit Law.
